This colorful little painting, Autumn Meadow, brought back a special Mom memory when I was a little girl.
“My 10th Birthday Party”
Days before my 10th birthday, Mom asked, “What would you like to do on your birthday?” Excitedly, I replied, “Do something different. Let’s have a picnic in the park!”
Several days later, off we went to a beautiful nearby national park with a few friends in tow. We settled into a little green meadow beside a tiny trickling brook surrounded by tall birch trees.
After cake, we played a game we called “Find a Four-Leaf Clover”. Everyone crawled around the grass searching for their lucky charm. Ten minutes later, I shouted, “I found one!” It was a rare find, and I was proud of it.
Every time I drive past that little meadow in the Terra Nova National Park (NL), I’m reminded of my birthday, my first four-leaf clover, and a special day shared with friends and especially my Mom.
