About the Artist

Hello, I’m Rosalind, a watercolor artist in beautiful Blind Bay, British Columbia.

Imagination and intuition drive my work, creating a semi-abstract and impressionistic style often inspired by the mountains, water, and ever-changing seasons around Shuswap Lake. From my studio, ideas unfold naturally — allowing color, movement, and memory to shape each piece of artwork.

I began painting during a challenging time in my life. What started as a quiet form of meditation gradually became something much deeper. While library books taught me technique, practice — and learning to trust my intuition — became my greatest teachers. Watercolor showed me how to let go, to listen, and to create from feeling rather than perfection.

I’m originally from Newfoundland, where my love of landscape began. Year-round fishing trips with my father, George, and siblings, in all kinds of weather, left lasting impressions on my imagination. I also remember a kind kindergarten teacher, Janie, who encouraged a spirited little girl to express herself through art. Those early influences still live in my work today.

Before dedicating myself fully to painting, I earned a communications degree, traveled solo across Canada and Europe, and worked with Canadian airlines and government agencies. I’m also the author of the best-selling cookbook and travel guide Newfoundland: A Taste of Home. Photography, horseback riding, and motorcycle adventures continue to inspire my creative spirit.

Painting is more than what I do — it’s how I process, explore, and celebrate the beauty around me.
